THE NICE GREY SWEATER

THE NICE GREY SWEATER

Irena–Cleaner–wore a sweater,

A grey cable-knit–none better…

A simple nice top

Anyone could adopt,

You would if you could have met her.

–Jonathan Caswell

DEPRESSED–AND HOW?

DEPRESSED–AND HOW?

Is it that I’m off my feed

Or is it some inner need…

All that I feel

Is very real

And troubles intensely indeed!

I know I’ve been falling

Away from my calling…

Being distracted

By disability protracted,

Fighting yet suffered a mauling!

Popularity isn’t depression,

Except in professional session…

Like death, to avoid

We’d rather be buoyed,

Not listening to feeling regression.

Appropriate response, alas,

Most of us would rather pass…

Hugs are okay

But too far away,

For many–touching a stranger is crass.

Will you come sit by my side,

Let me talk out my fear and pride…

And risk an embrace

Lovingly, face-to-face,

Until the downer subsides?

MY MYSTERY (NON-THREATENING)

MY MYSTERY (NON-THREATENING)

A mysterious pattern I’ve found,

Being drawn to common ground…

Avril Lavine,

I thought was real keen,

She became of great reknown.

Taylor Swift too

Has caught my eye and ears through…

Videos clean,

Attractive as seen,

Miss out on her–I’ll be blue!

An exception is Pat Benetar,

She’s short and brunette so far…

Taken lomnger to learn

What make her music burn,

I wonder who next is my star?

SIMPLE SEWING SAYS

SIMPLE SEWING SAYS

My wife often will say

She’d make that dress right away…

If her sewing machine

Were set up, she means,

And I’ll softly “okay.”

I seem inadequate

Her wishes to do and get…

Things ready for her

to begin the whir

And start in with a project.

I wish someone else would come,

Getting the machine to hum…

So she can start

Without this old fart

Continuing to be a bum!

–Jonathan Caswell

HE MOURNS ON

HE MOURNS ON

Grieving,  he must analyse,

What clearly is before his eyes…

That face and chest–

A visual conquest–

An attraction beyond the wise?

His favorite one is she,

To back pedal now is key…

Yielding to pain

Won’t bring again

Stolen joys from what used to be!

–Jonathan Caswell

SOMETHING’S WRONG.

SOMTHING’S WRONG.

He tried a new chip flavor,

Expectimg a taste he could savor…

But it went flat–

What’s up with that–

This brand he did not favor!

Next time, if he chooses at all,

Store brand flavors won’t fall…

More things than not

Less flavor they’ve got,

His taste buds may be at fault!

–Jonathan Caswell

It could be HIS TASTE BUDS at fault!

THE BUTTON-UP BLOUSE

THE BUTTON-UP BLOUSE

Forgive me for mentioning

I love a button-up blouse…

Pink or blue or white will do—

They look good on my spouse!

Ah the memories of girls

Who had buttons to try…

Theirs are opposite to ours,

I’m still not sure just why!

One in college allowed

One or two unbuttoned til…

She stopped any further  research,

Though of me she thought not ill.

I remember one time

When “gap-o-sis” got me caught…

In saying what I didn’t have to—

My Dad was anger fraught.

A girl  he had chased after

Offered  him to see…

What delights lay underneath

And he did…naturally.

That woman was his fave

Until the future wife came ’round…

When that woman cut things off

It really threw him down!

He doesn’t need

To see one undressed…

To know that he likes that style

On anyone the best!

SKIRTING THE ISSUE

SKIRTING THE ISSUE!

The young woman twirled  her skirts

Like a girl dancer flirts…

To catch an eye

Or two mid-fly,

Prompting jealous hurts.

–Jonathan Caswell

Swirling skirts catch eyes

Feminine wiles luring guys…

Or just feeling free???

–J.E.C.

Liking skirt patterns

Made of cotton or of silk,

Patterned skirts look nice:

Not all tight skirts  are welcome,

Flowing skirts billowing cool.

–Jonathan Caswell

GOOD THING, TOO

GOOD THING, TOO.

At least two women have figures

These redheads embody no stigmas…

But to his eye

He’s ready to fly,

To either one’s beckoning fingers!

It’s not that they act unkind,

But don’t encourage his blind…

Devotion that’s plain,

Or cause him pain,

They’re not interested in his kind!

B.A.R.–FIND WHAT’S “NEW”

B.A.R.–FIND WHAT’S “NEW”

The BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGT REVIEW,

For what in the  Biblical era, is new…

Latest finds from that era—

Archaeologists may share a

Tidbit, theory or two!

–Jonathan Caswell

***THE BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGY REVIEW magazine, is available on-line,a hard-copy mail subscription or at select news stands!  I highly recommend it.  Despite the title and era covered, it is not necessarily a Christian publication…just a scientific one, aimed toward interested folk of the general population.
