KATYDIDS AND CICADAS!!!

The time for “peepers” is past,

Their replacements growing fast…

Not until next year

Will we hear

Their choruses at last!

August night times creak

With cicada and katydid speak…

Consistent one pitch

Late summer bugs’ itch,

Renewing every week.

If katydids come inside,

The frightened are fit to be tied…

On curtain rods

There are good odds,

A man must rescue his bride!!!!!

UNDERSTANDING CHANGED

UNDERSTANDING CHANGED

(An Opinion)

The gauntlet of lust is gone,

The rest of us carry on…

With understanding

Principles demanding

Old perceptions to dawn.

Hormones needn’t show themselves here,

Cultivating clients in fear…

The anxiousness scale

Of any female

Should not be increased–that’s clear.

Boys will be boys will be boys,

But boys who are men make a choice…

To be not get excited

O’er “love” unrequited,

And keep strict control of one’s voice.

Comfort comes with a smile

And a quick “goodbye for a while”…

Polite but not deep,

No intimacy creep

Or being forced to go out single file!

VACATION INADVERTANT

VACATION INADVERTANT

The Poet’s ambulance ride,

Was done safely inside…

Douglas E.M.S.

Whose care was the best,

‘Though the patient fought treatment and cried.

To Milford, Mass., they flew,

A familiar E.R. going to…

Those E.M.S. women

Kept the Poet from giving

Into not making it through!

PHANTOM CREEPY-CRAWLIES

PHANTOM CREEPY-CRAWLIES

I perch on the bathroom throne,

Thinking I am alone…

Then feeling a crawling

Up my leg (appalling),

I brush it off quickly and groan.

But there is nothing there,

The “bug’ vanished into thin air…

It sounds so mean

While feelings careen

‘Tween fear and utter despair.

Infections for a diabetic are worse,

Enough (a continual curse)…

But creepy-crawlies

And neuropathies,

Of phantom bugs are really adverse!

RAINY SEASON?

RAINY SEASON?

I hear in the tropics and Middle East,

Rainy season comes with the least…

Provocation

To those nations

That think it a blessing but a beast.

It feels like the tropics around here,

With “endless” rain so drear…

At least, as some say,

We’re not swept away

Which is a concept that we fear.

Observations from living upstairs….

Ducks in the back yard have airs

That their temporary pond

May last beyond

Their needs or wants or cares!

THE CAMERA

THE CAMERA

The man had a fear to discuss with a friend
While taking his old camera in…
Replacing batteries and buying more film,
The occasional tempting of sin.

He didn’t want a new camera phone,
The process was too easy then…
He wanted his subjects opportunity to run (!)
Before he succombed to his ken.

A manual Single-Lens-Reflex camera
He’d gotten and used in his youth…
His wife thought it time he used it again,
She trusted he’d take nothing uncouth.
