MID-OCTOBER AFTERNOON

MID-OCTOBER AFTERNOON

Pale sunlight by three PM,

Driving to work again….

Early to work

(One and a half hour’s perk)…

Covering time for a friend.

The pundits say autumn is slow,

A disappointing show…

It looks fine to me

indubitably,

We’ll take it as on we go!

First frost may be a few days,

Before garden plants are crazed….

Stems turning brown

Get plowed down,

Plant food for next summer’s days.

NEW AUTUMNAL HAIKU

NEW AUTUMNAL HAIKU

September sixteen,

Hooded jacket style preferred…

Flowers cowering.

First frost expected,

Football games in full scrimmage…

Mascots wear warm socks.

Branches dried too soon,

Taste of autumn in summer…

Golden not all good.

Turkeys gather fat,

Acorns litter many fields…

Squirrel-kind’s field day!

Ground mist oozes past,

Darker sooner than later…

Headlights grow auras.

Woodsmoke drifting in,

Smell the reapers bringing in…

Taste is bountiful.
