THANKSGIVING NIGHT PRECIP.

Rain dripping from canopies,

This one hopes you don’t freeze…

Salting trucks

Earn a few bucks,

But slipping brings us to our knees…literally.

He hasn’t yet found a cane

Upright in freezing rain…

Somedays he’ll crawl

To get there at all,

But then standing up is a pain!

Stores don’t sell crampons,

The kind canes can clamp on…

Do such exist–

A patent like this–

Somebody could make money on!

(Image–they actually sell things like this!)

FIRST DAY—12 AM ON…!

FIRST DAY—12 AM, ON…!

We’ll start out with snow and then sleet,

With freezing rain for a treat…

Elsewhere it rains

Backing up the drains,

Official Spring starts with deceit!

WEATHER-POET’S UPDATE

WEATHER-POET’S UPDATE

Not that anyone cares

But we’re sailing through rainy airs…

Sprinkles at first,

Near the end is the worst

Freezing rain and snow declared.

It’s around this time of year

That my goose pimples appear…

Having crashed on ice

The driving’s not nice,

And in a matter of seconds–disappears!

My worst crash ever, I found,

Just past the crash site, treated ground…

I lost control

Which took its toll

On the other car, elsewhere bound.

That crash was over and done,

But was not the only one…

Each in turn

One must re-earn

Self-confidence for the next run.

Every year…the same struggle…

When under the covers I’d snuggle,

But must go forth

And face traffic court,

Should the driving skills tumble!

OUR NEW STORM IS HERE!

OUR NEW STORM IS HERE!

(sung to “Oh Susanna!”)

Our latest storm has found its way

To our neighborhood…

Rhode Island has begun to sleet,

Having all snow is good!

Oh, the snowfall

Is fast enough for me…

But will the snow be plowed enough,

When I drive off at three?

I shoveled out the exit ramp,

The muscles hurt me so…

I started on the front walkway,

Rob said that I could go!

Oh, this snowstorm

Is fast enough for me…

I wonder if the roads are plowed

When I leave for work at three?

It seems to be letting up,

We sure don’t need the rain…

Wet, slippery slush is hazardous

Makes driving a real pain!

Oh, this snowstorm

Has dumped enough for me…

I wonder if the highway’s plowed

By the time I leave at three?

FIRST OF FEBRUARY IN DOUGLAS

FIRST OF FEBRUARY IN DOUGLAS

February first and “fifty”

Those small piles of snow so nifty…

They say freezing rain

By Sunday again,

But today heating bills are thrifty.

He’s outside in a T-shirt,

Gazing at flat grass and dirt…

The shadow of lawn

Greatly put upon,

Must wait a while before a growth spurt.

Laundry fumes on the breeze

From the back of our building tease…

Reminding of “home”

And a shapely roan,

Who mostly wants to please.

Chillier as sun goes down,

He looks foolish to those around…

Nearly time to quit

As sky starts to spit,

Hee wants to avoid being drowned!
