LATE SUMMER CROP

LATE SUMMER CROP

Cherry tomatoes turning red

Cucumbers dried up all…

Our whiskey barrel’s season is through,

But marigolds are standing tall.

The vines are dried-up memories,

As are the bumper crops…

Just a few more weeks of temperatures

For swimsuits and flip-flops!

OVER A (HALF-) BARREL

OVER A (HALF-) BARREL

My wife likes growing plants,

As long as they don’t harbor ants…

A friend made her laugh

With a barrel (just half),

In the garden to dirty MY pants!

The bending and work–you know who–

Will do as he’s asked to do…

For veggies and flowers

He’ll work it for hours,

Maybe get a taste of it, too!

WHERE’S THE FOLLOW-UP????

WHERE’S THE FOLLOW-UP???

I spent Sunday afternoon

On a walk and the garden to groom…

I spent my free time

As I was inclined,

Picking dead spikes from lilies gone soon.

The problem is, I didn’t keep

Up with exercise this week…

One leg is stiff,

It won’t make a “diff.”

I have to do rounds as I speak!

I’ll get along with the limp

I have ’cause one leg is gimp…

You’d think by now

I’d learn somehow,

That I’m not limber as a chimp!
