NOT STAYING UP LATE TONIGHT!

NOT STAYING UP LATE…

(Haiku)

Staying up too late,

Makes no sense for me tonight…

Busy tomorrows!

Up early mornings.

Blogging till morning sunlight…

Too sleepy to wake!

Doctors appointments

Tomorrow my beloved

Gets her full work up!

Colonoscopies–

Don’t you love them so early?

A draining event!

I drive the Missus

To her doctors appointments—

But not crazy….MUCH!

WILL HE WAKE UP?

WILL HE WAKE UP?

Set the alarm clock early,

Feeling rather squirrelly…

Keep waking up

Nervous and abrupt,

He’s feeling very surly.

Didn’t get to sleep

Till early morning to keep…

Time to rest

Went to bed half-dressed,

And now the clock seems to creep.

A long time of dreaming beckons,

Actual time: seconds…

Two minutes seem long,

Anxiety’s strongly

Influenced by time reckoned.

He manages waking before

The alarm…his feet hit the floor…

This troubled night

Will be all right

When tonight he can sleep some more.

MORNING GLORIES, by Carl Gooch

Morning Glories
 –
I’m up early in the morning,
Cause I’ve got the morning glories.
Oh what a wonderful story,
To tell of God’s sweet glory.
 –
I’m up early in the morning,
I’m going to praise Him all day long;
I’m going to sing His sweet song.
Cause I’ve got those morning glories.
 –
He watched over me through night,
And protected me from all harm.
And woke me with His morning light,
He is my shelter from the storm.
Yes, it’s the same sweet story,
The blessing of God’s morning glory.
 –
What a blessing to follow Him today,
As He shows His love for me.
His precious word keeps me in His way,
Revealing His promise to me.
Blessed am I to tell His story,
Of our God and His glory.
 –
I’m up early in the morning,
I’m going to praise Him all day long;
I’m going to sing His sweet song.
Cause I’ve got those morning glories.

LIGHT AND SASSY

LIGHT AND SASSY

He feels pretty good today,

He managed sufficient sleep…

And made his way to work anon

Having done promises he could keep.

He woke up early with time to write

A light-hearted missive or two…

He got to smile at his “favorite girl”

And joke with the secretary, too.

He literally saluted

With a brandish of mouth trombone…

Friends who were coming into work

And those just leaving for home.

His vacation-time form was faxed by the boss,

Eventually money will come…

To tide him over til he gets back

From a week of Christmas at home.
