CASWELL GOLD???

CASWELL GOLD????

This growing ginger  makes me want to root

Around in Douglas soil to start a new pursuit…

We’ll call it “Douglas gold”–ginger ale so fine

With a special ginger beer–the label would be mine!

JUST THINK–we’d have a “Ginger Vale” accommodating vans

Of happy people coming to drink in enchanted lands…

A ginger beer garden with ginger gum for free

And ginger beer waiting there and special ginger tea!

Somewhere, winding ’round the place, we’d put a ginger train,

Riding cars with gingered roofs if it began to rain…

All this silly stuff takes time

But it is a new dream of mine!

ALMOST GINGER BEER

ALMOST GINGER BEER

(An unsolicited endorsement)

I really love ginger beer,

But all that sugar strikes fear…

Not so copacetic

For the poor diabetic,

Who sheds his mournful tear.

Ginger ale especially “diet’

Generally doesn’t cause a taste riot…

Often watered down,

I’m glad it’s around

But its flavoring is rather quiet.

But in my grocery store,

I’ve found an elixir with more…

Than the usual kick

And it won’t make me sick,

At least hardly like before!

R. W. KNUDSEN “Spritzer” Ginger Ale,

In the natural aisle for sale…

Is my new-found friend

As means to an end,

Pulls my taste buds within the veil.

No high-sugar corn syrup rabble,

Just concentrate juice..grape and apple…

Three ginger sources

Like  troika of horses,

The team rendered strong and ample.

Filtered sparkling water

And fruit sugars promise no slaughter….

In nice ginger ale

Flavor not so pale,

Pleasing to this inquisitive otter!

(An unsolicited, totally volunteer, endorsement of this product…as far as that goes!    No otters were hurt or molested in the writing of this poem…and the author is obviously not one, except in an allegorical sense.)   🙂

CHRISTMAS GIFTS I CAN’T GET

CHRISTMAS GIFTS I CANNOT GET

Every year we will regret

The gifts that we cannot get…

Like a brand new car

Or a giant bar

Of beeswax for skier Suzette.

I’d like to put my vote here,

For sugar-free ginger beer…

With kick that sails

Beyond ginger ales,

To that stuff I’d certainly steer!

I suppose it’s too much to ask,

To simplify my modeling task…

A coal trestle guide

With examples world-wide,

From present-times and from the past.

And while I’m thinking so wild,

I’m hoping to be profiled…

To sell my book

So folks will look

And I’ll get a check once in a while!
