The picture says “Poetry Friday”,

This poem is more about flyways…

Great Blue Heron

Silently tearing,

Along to their next lunchtime gaze!

Heron stand very still,

With positive hopes that will…

Rewarded

By fish quickly sworded,

With lightening strike of his bill.

The birds have several ponds,

For fishing in their environs…

One or two strikes

Must limit their likes,

Then fish won’t come near to be preyed upon!

THE LO-O-O-O-O-ONE GREAT BLUE HERON!

THE LO-O-O-O-O-ONE  GREAT   HERON!

On this darkening November day,

A Great Blue Heron assayed…

To fly overhead

A young driver said,

Across his lane of a rain-soaked highway.

He thought the bird would have flown

South before snow fall had grown…

His migratory

Knowledge of the story

Was rather poorly known!

Perhaps, like other types

Of migratory birds, he’d no gripes…

With staying around

And fish to be found,

So much for stereotypes.

Didn’t know if he’d see it again,

His late-staying feathered friend…

So he wished him a living

The day before Thanksgiving,

Whatever the future would portend.
