FAR AFIELD

FAR AFIELD

The regular Postal guy

Asked me if the young geese could fly…

I couldn’t see

Them hiding from me,

Goose Management probably was why.

While closing gates I spotted

The goose family out-trotted…

Their plumage was there

To soon take to air,

Exactly as Management plotted!

Soon all will be chased away,

Momma with a broken wing may stay…

Perhaps picked up

By a rent-a-goose truck,

And given a breeding okay?

WHEN TROUBLE STRIKES

WHEN TROUBLE STRIKES

Why do we run and hide

When purpose or direction are tried….

Not all of us do

But alas, how few,

Stand up with resourceful pride!

Why do some in some measure,

When threatened resort to pleasure….

To take up their minds

With something that blinds

Them to opportunity’s treasure?

For myself, I’m apt,

To not always adapt…

But think of my Mom

Whom I depended on,

To defend me when I became trapped.

Supposedly older and wiser,

I sometimes would still utilise her….

A suitable stand-in

Would my heart win,

But not as a chastiser!

I have enough, with my wife,

Gumption without knights white…

To figure out how

To settle a row,

Without pretending I can’t quite.
