THE HUMUS WENT TOO LONG!

THE HUMUS WENT TOO LONG!

Tony came prepared

With a shopping bag that day…

Filled with stuff from TRADER JOE’S,

Which to us he gave away.

Some artichoke spread I said I’d try

And brought some humus, too…

Some high-end whole wheat crackers

That we both went quickly through.

The plainer humus I devoured,

It took barely a week…

The artichoke I tried to like

But didn’t, so-to-speak.

The crackers, as I said, went fast

Between my wife and I…

And then we moved on to other things,

Our enthusiasm died.

So one humus–and the artichoke–

Remained for a month or two…

The humus taste is not so fun

And I think its time is through!

EATING DIFFERENTLY

EATING DIFFERENTLY

While people morn, this life must go on,

Tony brought me humus and crackers to feast upon…

Chickpeas ground with garlic

Is supper tonight,

Have a head of broccoli

For a going-home snack just right…

Eating healthy

Will help me feel okay,

Thank you, Lord, for Tony

And friends to show the way!

GOOD TO HAVE FRIENDS!

GOOD TO HAVE FRIENDS!

The folks at our church are expressing

Concern at our family’s distressing…

One showed up one day

With a snack food giveaway,

To help with healthy digesting!

Crackers and artichoke spread,

Is new to this greying head…

Will give it a try

(Two jars did he buy!)

To replace the junk food, he said!

Along with broccoli and humus,

I’m not yet washing with pumice…

But bought “Selsun Blue”

For my dry skin too,

The dermatologist made me promise!

Two out of five days this week,

Have no appointments of which to speak…

I plan to sleep in

To regain my wind,

And rest for my body more sleek.
