LET US SLEEP ON IT*

woe betide them that try

to se in stone what needs more time…

My turn table lost?*

without further cost?

Then I looked near bed time!

I thought I’d lost my lead

To that tyrn table, but indeed…

A curve could be made

With large enough radius laid,

To satisfy the using of steam.

A switch I’d previously cut in,

To one engine stall could run…

The other could Branch

From the turn table switch–

My space problem was overcome!

Envisioning a massive water wheel,

Fed by a sluice pipe has appeal…

This motorized–

Already planned (what a surprise?),

For which the tourists would positively SQUEAL!

And then, the bridge over a mill dam flood—

If I wanted, a covered bridge wouldn’t take TOO MUCH blood…!

Just for light tourist trains–

Steel reinforced all the same–

An occasional short freight could be good!

I wish I could draw all this now,

All it took was time to see how…

Possibilities arise

by opening one’s eyes,Imagination plus a day’s-worth of wrinkled brow!

“WATER FAIRIES” RISE

Wet asphalt steaming,

Imaginative souls dreaming….

Water fairies

Seen in the leas,

Air warmer than the ground starts them streaming(

QUIET NIGHT IN THE CASBAH

QUIET NIGHT IN THE CASBAH

This casbah is so quiet,

Not enough people for a riot…

silence is loud

Without a crowd,

Maybe I can get back on my diet!

No entrancing women tonight,

No dervishes whirling in sight…

The occasional clink

Of a merchant I think,

counting his  revenues right.

Another man will come along,

Blessed to hear morning songs…

Whilst I will sleep

In my bed so deep,

I’ll need a ladder at dawn!

MICROLAYOUT MOGUL

MICRO-LAYOUT MOGUL

We mini-model railroaders grieve for Carl Arendt,

In the case of mini-trains he was a knight-errant…

His blog exists*

With a few new twists,

In his shadow our loss is apparent!

POSSIBILITIES OF IMAGINATION

(GOOGLE)

POSSIBILITIES OF IMAGINATION

Imagine fields of flowing grain

And grasses wet with dew…

Or a pretty maiden fair

Waiting just for you.

Trains and planes and space ships wild

Await your every wish…

In dreamland one cannot always control

The elephants or fish!

While away with idle thoughts,

Whenever one may try…

Perhaps in your daydreaming

An idea will happen by!

FAIRY-FOLK

FAIRY-FOLK

Some people think fairy-folk

Are no more then country joke…

The citified

Are “open-eyed”

Or so they will have spoke.

For most, video games,

Have replaced mythical names…

For natural things

Imagined with wings,

That mortals can scarcely explain.

A sense of wonder—is it gone?

As a boring life drones on…

What is left to suspect

When all is direct(ly)

Available then we move on?

Kids grow up way too soon,

In love, in “knowledge”, in gloom…

Imagination is dulled

By facts quickly pulled,

With little interesting left to assume.

SNOW FAERIE

(GOOGLE)

SNOW FAERIE

 The woods are quiet,

Frost kisses the nose…

From deep within

A conviction grows,

That something or someone

Inhabits the woods…

Softly observing

But misunderstood,

The animals quietly do their own thing

We imagine the glow

Of a faerie ring.

Not surprising, we man-poets,

Form our own view…

Of how faeries look

Ethereal too,

We paint them to look

Like our favorite lass…

Like if a lover

Had a looking glass,

Or some fancy of

A gentleman’s scheme…

Imagination

That is only a dream.
