DARKER DAYS

DARK DAYS

Dark days, said one, makes her tired,

We poets continue inspired…

When things are black

We have no lack

Of thoughts to write down when acquired!

Brightness found inside,

The Light in Whom one abides…

Showing the way

To drive dark away,

Not by yourself or your pride!

The more cheery of us bring light,

To everyone else, smiles bright…

Being a lamp

Of “dreadnought stamp”,

Doing what God says is right!

THE SIGH OF RELIEF

THE SIGH OF RELIEF

Payday has come–in brief–

We heave a sigh of relief…

Not out of the woods

But in the black–good–

‘Though spending is on a short lease.

Edging back from the breach,

Defying our temptations to preach…

Back from the dead

Financially said,

To do anything is a reach!

SPUTNIK’S ANNIVERSARY AND MINE

SPUTNIK’S ANNIVERSARY AND MY BIRTHDATE

My birthday (soon!) may lack,

We’ll be content with accounts in the black…

It won’t leave much

For ice cream and such,

But we’re happy to have our lives back!

AN HOUR’S DIFFERENCE

AN HOUR’S DIFFERENCE

It took an hour or less

Of difference for a mess…

Instead of freedom

He got more “C” from

The banking and paycheck process.

He’d hoped to time things just right,

To be in “the black” that night…

But instead,

His hopes were dead

By timing ever so slight.

So now he’s back in the hole,

A little less, but little control…

On any one item

That crucifies him,

He wishes he could crawl in one, now!
