“A MATTER OF MEANING”

A MATTER OF MEANING

My wife and I use different screening

Of data and get different meaning…

We disagree

On phraseology,

Where clashes of temperament teeming!

We come from different worlds,

Our brains show differing whorls…

She’s from the mountain–

I’m suburbia counting

The times when she made my heart twirl!

An author used the word “Instinct”

In a way not very succinct…

Seeming suggesting

That we could be resting

On an unsaved soul distinct?

Take the word of “nude”

For many certain facts construed…

Make meaning duller

Applied to color,

The disappointed reactions are rude!

MOM CAT MOUSE-BURGERS!

MOM CAT MOUSE-BURGERS!

We love Mom Cat Mouse-burgers, Inc.,

She hunts her food by instinct…

Mouse-burgers stuffed

With mouse enough

Makes consuming them succinct.

DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS.

DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS.

A sign in plain sight

Points to seagulls’ plight…

Do not feed,

Encourage the breed,

They’ll pester you day and night!

In a WENDY’s parking lot,*

Think of all the junk food they’ve got…

Their “lips smack”

At every snack

They scavenge at that very spot.

Seagulls come inland

Upriver to instinct’s command…

For a couple of years

Survival with peers

Before frolic in ocean sand.

* WENDY’s…is a popular U.S. fast food restaurant—with the redheaded girl for a trademark!

SWIFT SWALLOW SWOOPING

SWIFT SWALLOW SWOOPING

Swift swallows swooping over the duck pond,

Swallowing mosquitoes with every pass there on…

Aren’t you glad mosquitoes don’t know until they’re dead

That swallows are coming who want to be fed!

Makes things easier when insects do not feel,

Fear or anxiety when they are a meal….

Unlike we humans with adrenaline needs

Insects are ready for when swallows feed.
