POETS’ ENVY FOR PAINTERS

POETS’ ENVY FOR PAINTERS

tune: OH JERUSALEM)

The other night I saw the clouds

In the western sky…

One side was all golden,

The other…grey and white:

The white was stark against the grey

In huge cotton balls,

The right side…golden sun came through

As of from Heaven’s halls…

From the right side, golden light came through

As if from Heaven’s halls!

The sunset clouds,

Those sunset clouds…

Changing as we speak!

So hard to describe in poetic terms.

Except with tongue-in-cheek!

The scene kept changing as I watched,

The golden slowly dies,

Cotton candy darkened

While lit up from inside…

The cloud bank slowly lost its light

While lit gold from inside!

Oh sunset cloud,

Oh sunset clouds,

Covering God’s holy light!

Keep changing into the darkness

Providing an art’s delight…

Keep changing ito darkness…

Providing artistic delight!!!!!

ROMANS 8:28 IN THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

ROMANS 8:28 IN THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

Been reading early chapters of Acts

And how God’s Spirit impacts…

The way we refuse

His commands to use,

Thus wearing armor with cracks.

Christ said, “to the ends of the earth”

But found a marked dearth…

Of volunteers

Leaving Jewish frontiers,

Believing what Christ was worth.

In point of fact, former Greeks,

Were the first to make Gospel leaps….

To Samaria prime

And give an Ethiopian time

To find the God each one “seeks.”*

It really took a Saul

To get them to move at all…

Persecution indeed

Pointed out need

To take it beyond that city wall!

The Romans finished the job

By seventy A.D., with a mob…

Which trashed the place

And the Hebrews disgraced,

Pillaging and leaving just sobs.

Saul turned to Paul baptized,

Who Jerusalem gladly subsidized…

With the writing on the wall,

Church must grow or fall

Is something still to be realized.

Have we really learned anything new?

Mainline churches are dying too…

Spiritually if not in numbers

Humanism encumbers,

While others are reaching out with real Good News!

*I know, I know…I’m mixing past and present tenses here!  Hence the word “seeks” in quotes.  Shame on me!!!!

PALM SUNDAY, 2013

PALM SUNDAY, 2013

How He would have gathered up His chicks,

Instead, they hit Him with sticks…

An entrance glorious

Of a King victorious,

For the team he would not have been “first picks”.

So many today

Want to wish Him away…

Denying His claim

To come in God’s name,

And on their prejudice they stay.

Since when has God used logic that is human,

Or when has He validated intellectual acumen…?

He takes foolish things

To run heavenly rings

Around the proud who for His job are in grooming!

Yeshua* came, not depending on the crowd,

For He Himself knew that rocks were loud…

Would anybody listen,

He had His own suspicion

That soon enough His battered head was bowed.

*Yeshua—Jesus, in Hebrew

FOR OR AGAINST ISRAEL?

FOR OR AGAINST ISRAEL?

Hard to believe it is for some

That God would choose only one…

People as His

To channel the “biz”

Of accessing the Holy One.

Apostle Paul said it best,

To enter obtaining God’s rest…

Grafting into Jewish stock

Is not Zionist “crock”

But the way God chose as the best!

By faith, according to Paul,

We can be blessed with it all…

Jerusalem

Is Israel’s gem,

For division, God has no call.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,

A holy Christian obligation…

God gave them the land

Let readers understand,

Honor Him through the Israeli nation!
