TIME TO “PACK IT IN”

TIME TO PACK IT IN…!

Chrysanthemums were ragged,

The cabbage turning slaw,

When I came back for my shift

There were none left at all…

Landscapers had pulled up

Every single plant,…

But for the trees and bushes

The flora left was scant!

Stop talking with your neighbor

And I’ll tell you the rest,

They worked the soil adding things

As the edge footprints attest…

Preparing for the winter

Is nowhere a sin,

You have to cut your losses—

It’s time to pack it in!!!!

Most gardeners would leave them

Overwintering in place,

But at corporate headquarters

Messy gardens lose face…

Things neat and tidy–

The corporation creed,

So they clear out gardens that

Their P.R. work succeeds!

SECURITY’S SURE SIGNS OF SPRING

SECURITY’S SURE SIGNS OF SPRING

In the vehicle I.D. intercom

I hear the red-wings chatter…

Going into sing-song

With the things that really matter.

Walls are off the canopy

That shelters employees…

Little birds try to nest

In cement cavities.

Landscapers appear

To rake and sweeten soil…

Flower beds already edged

Prepare for planting toil!

‘-

Security gets to see

More of the parking lot…

Motorcycles have their place,

As more of them we’ve got.

Safe inside, Security

May work without a jacket…

Until air conditioning

Joins the building racket.

POISON IVY…VARIETY PACKED!

POISON IVY…VARIETY PACKED!

Consider the poison ivy plant

You often find its vines…

Stretching out upon the lawn,

Growing in straight lines.

That tiny vine, how does it grow,

To take over the lawn…

Getting rid of the stuff

Requires super-human brawn!

Every little snippet becomes

A full-grown plant…

If any touches skin,

You’ll itch until you rant.

It waves big red and yellow leaves

In Autumn, from woody stems…

Climbing up a tree trunk

For years with twists and bends.

Burn the stuff and its smoke

Can cause the brutal itch…

Gardeners, landscapers all

Learn the poison ivy twitch!
