FAMILY HISTORY TRAIN CAR
–
A magnifying glass,
I’ll need bringing to pass…
Particulars
Of my forebears,
A project destined to last.
–
Tom Caswell–sixteen thirty-nine–
Landed on these shores the first time…
His Papa was caught
In a land promotion plot,
Tom’s Papa convicted of crime!
–
I have an idea in N scale
Of celebrating that tale…
Sixteen thirty-nine
Was a long time
Ago on my family’s trail.
–
Three hundred and fifty years,
In nineteen eighty-nine, appears..
Since my ancestor landed
On these shores (empty-handed?),
Susque-tricentennial cheers!
–
The idea is to letter a car,
That hasn’t made progress so far…
The numbers small
Won’t fit all
I feel like I’m stuck in cold tar!
–
I’m thinking of larger scales,
Where fumble fingers won’t fail…
Bicentennial cabeese
Relettered at least,
Would be perfect to tell the tale!
