FROM SECURITY SOURCES: FAMILIAR WORDS

FROM SECURITY SOURCES: FAMILIAR WORDS*

When working in a nursing home,

The news came of a woman who’d borne…

A baby in bed

Although brain-dead,

A male aide had raped her in scorn.

At the time, I washed up women,

Whose minds were dimming…

A young one’s head

Was damaged instead,

It hit me while changing her linen.

Not that I would enter that range,

But the feeling about the news felt strange…

Here I was thrust

With certain trust,

Of not performing similar exchange.

I didn’t work fast enough there,

Was canned despite all my care…

Shoving food down

I couldn’t get around

To doing with efficient flair!

STATS…AS OF THIS MOMENT.

STATS…AS OF THIS MOMENT!

I am SO GLAD that my friend Megan has reached 100,000 Followers!  That’s a lot for one year of blogging.

My own humble blog….BY THE MIGHTY MUMFORD…has the current Stat. info:

ALL-TIME VIEWS:  20,293

POSTS (INCLUDES REBLOGS):  4,541

BLOGGERS FOLLOWING:  468

FOLLOWING ON TWITTER:  6

FOLLOWING ON FACEBOOK:  327

(UNFORTUNATELY, I’ve been unable to refresh my connection to Facebook, so these may be losing out!)

While no figures are available, I also share on Linked-In twice…only one of the two accounts do I actively monitor.  Lost the password to the other one!

BLOGS I FOLLOW: About 1,260 (Don’t ask how I keep track of them all!  It’s a courtesy I extend to follow any blogs of interest to me)

REBLOGGING POLICY:

My basic policy is to reward those who actively follow my blog, including an “inner circle” of folks most interested and active with Comments, and who keep in touch with me.  This used to include the ones showing up on my Google mail account, until they were apparently crowded out by Google Plus.  These folks I still actively seek out to read and follow and reblog as time and space permit.

I also to a lesser extent than previously, actively seek blogs of interest through the Word Press Reader that I follow and/or find of interest, in accordance with my beliefs and views on various topics, and those things I’d like to learn more about.

As you are aware, I also hold a priority toward OUR POETRY CORNER, and Ron DuBour, who invited me to join his poetry community on Face Book, and followed him here onto Word Press.  The rest, as somebody said, is history!

PASSWORD PERSNICKETINESS

PASSWORD PERSNICKETINESS

(“Yellow Rose of Texas”)*

Having tired fingers,

A blogger’s special trait,

A misplaced key in spelling

We can appreciate…

Those pesky hidden passwords

Fat fingers often botch,

Especially late at night

As if we’re drinking scotch!

Persnickety passwords—

How do we get along

With thinking up the new ones

To access what we’ve done…

A finger slip or poor mem’ry

Can put us in a jam,

The one who remembers all his

Really is THE MAN!

Those woman bloggers surely

Are like my Mother dear,

Who “keyboarded” professionally

Before keyboards were here!

She banged out frequent letters

On an old OLYMPIA,**

Her fingers deftly pushing keys–

It got in her blood!

I must be doing something right

For I go on and on,

Making quickie poetry

Until the break of dawn…

I really don’t talk much at home

But get on-line I spurt

Out reams of conversation

Until my fingers hurt!

I remember most passwords

Because they all are new,

I’ve lost track of a couple–

Forgot the key words, too!

I have two “Linked-In” ‘dentities,

Only one I can access…

I lost the link to the other

But they both work, I guess.

I’m rambling on while singing

A little out of tune,

It really is too early

For I got up way too soon…

I had to check the banking

And we’re finally in the black,

Got to get some serious work done

Before the red comes back.

I really have to end this

But my limbered fingers fly

Across the borrowed keyboard

Beneath a watchful eye…

I have to watch for spelling

And the fumbling finger fail,

If I don’t get the words just right

I’ll land in Spellcheck jail!

WHY FOLLOW ME AROUND?

WHY FOLLOW ME AROUND?

Responding recently to a High School friend

Whose always turning up around the next bend…

I wondered why

She’d try

To contact once again?

I set up a new “Linked-In” account with no gold

Frankly because I’d forgotten particulars of the old…

And here comes Dawn

With nary a yawn,

Being welcomingly bold.

Perhaps there are things I don’t see or recognise from then,

Why someone would value me to still reach out as friend…

Graduated in seventy-five,

Why should I deprive

Camaraderie of those who survived since then?
