OCTOBER 4TH’S IMPORTANCE

Image is from the Birthday boy’s High School Senior picture)

He once asked his parents why,

Sputnik’s importance they passed by…

Mom said, it was you

We were bringing into,

The world and be happy at a baby’s cry!

(The Russian Sputnik was the first satellite in space—launched October 4th, 1957.  My parents had a rather more important–to them– delivery received on that same date!)

CHILDHOOD LOST

CHILDHOOD LOST

I mis my Mom, I miss my Dad,

I miss the smell of lily pads…

Wound around the pram propeller

Out of water pads are smellers,

But skunk cabbage–that’s really BAD!

THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS….by Carl Gooch

The Good Old Days

The good old days..
When a man shook your hand
And looked you in the eye;
When a man gave his word
He kept it, he would not lie.
Oh, how I miss those good old days…
Yes those good old days
With truth, honor and family pride.
How I long for those good old days.
The good old days;
Where kids could run and play,
And they could laugh all day.
They’d have a lemonade stand,
On sometimes a fat old snowman.
Oh, how I miss those good old days…
Yes those good old days
With truth, honor and family pride.
How I long for those good old days.
In the good old days;
Mom and Dad respected each other,
Loved and supported one another.
They showed their kids a better way,
Taught them how to kneel and pray.
In the good old days….
Take me back to the good old days.
How I miss those good old days…
Yes those good old days
With truth, honor and family pride.
How I long for those good old days.
