THE STORY…OF TOBERMORY

THE STORY…OF TOBERMORY

I see a smiling kitty and I think of Tobermory,

Dad and Mom’s cat in later life…

They picked him from a shelter to take him to their home,

Saving him from further caged life.

Dad took him to the vet. for his shots,

The vet thought Toby’s life the life of Riley…

His cat face formed just so,

The vet nick-named him “Smiley”.

Tobermory stayed til my parents were both gone,

Then my brother took him home…

He and their animals seemed to get along

And from that loving house he’ll never roam.

WHAT’S THE STORY, TOBERMORY?

WHAT’S THE STORY, TOBERMORY?

I don’t know how she heard it

But my wife said he was gone…

It’s a minor miracle

That he lived so long.

Tobermory was Dad and

Mom Caswell’s cat…

His Mama was a Persian,

Pedigreed and all that.

His Papa–who knows (?)–

So the story went…

She escaped out one day

And found her natural bent!

Tobermory was in fact

A black and white…plus…

He had some Siamese somewhere,

We saw it when he fussed.

He’d chatter at the birds outside,

From behind a window screen…

Dive-bombing from cat birds

Convinced him they were mean!

We knew that Dad and Mom were softening

When they let him stay…

On the dining room table,

On a newspaper, by the way.

Mom went first, then Dad,

Nate and Nancy took Tobermory…

Giving him a nice home

Till he passed, and that’s his story.
