OLD MAN RELEASED

OLD MAN RELEASED

An old man holding onto friendship
With a joyful, pretty young thing…
Long distance relations,
Seldom happiness bring.

Foolish was he for asking
For a picture of her face…
Her polite silence
Suggests she wants her space.

No more use in trying
With a cold shoulder from afar…
He might as well just accept
Things the way they are!

OLD MAN’S QUESTION

OLD MAN’S QUESTION

At what point does the hearing of the young

Laughing an attractive laugh

Not overcome?

When will a young woman not catch

An older man wanting to rehatch

His youth and that one catch?

When will these feelings go away,

The need to be loved

And the fear of betrayed?

Some parts of him will never subside

For they’re part of his being,

Some things that abide…

A part of him remains young.
