AMERICAN FLAG DAY—JUNE 14TH, 2015

AMERICAN FLAG DAY–JUNE 14TH, 2015

Flag Day is today—

Have you put on your display?

In the window is cute

But a bathing suit

Let’s all the guys “HOORAY!”

Em bodied American pride

Is best when it is eyed…

In the breeze

Waving with ease,

Leaves some of us tongue-tied.

A new handkerchief of the flag

I have, not for a snot rag…

At least not today

Lest someone should say

I belong in a well-tied bag!

So much of this country has crocked,

But immigrants here still stop

Frantic rowing–

We’re the best thing going–

Even though our own people have mocked!

Put out our Grand Old Flag–

NOT in a garbage bag–

Fly it proudly

Maybe we’ll see

Our reversing fortunes un-sag.

SPRINGTIME LAWN ORNAMENT

SPRINGTIME LAWN ORNAMENT

A yellow ironing board

By somebody has been ignored…

Would they agree

To a finder’s fee,

If it were to the owner restored?

If it stays out in the rain

Tonight will it be always stained…

So quickly moved in,

The head had  to spin

To leave this out from their baggage train!

I think I know whose it is,

They borrowed a broom in a whiz…

To clean up glass

Drop-tested, didn’t pass,

I’ll park that board near their door, as is.

WILD ROSE BUSHES

WILD ROSE BUSHES BORDERING THE LAWN

(“Tiny Bubbles”)

Wild roses

On the lawn

Accent things nicely,

If they don’t scratch your arm…

Wild roses

Grow with vigor,

With lots of pretty white flowers

Bursting with native scent….

No hybrids, these!!!!

Prickly roses

Hurt so much

When we mow closer

We bleed by just a touch….

Is it worth it

To risk the arms,

If supplies of antibiotic

Run out before payday

And we bleed dry?
