COLD PIZZA PIG-OUT!

Leftover cold pizza came his way,

That doesn’t happen every day…

He should have saved

But he truly “knaved”,

Over time, he ate it all up today!

BEING USED WELL

BEING USED WELL

The concept of being “well-used”

In Dickens’ MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT, or EDWIN DROOD…

Has different connotations

From its originations,

We think now of being abused.

To wit:  being used well,

One had one’s talents to tell…

Which another might coax

To profit you both,

The resultant outcome would be swell.

This negative sense of well-used,

Not so easily disabused…

“Used” is being taken

Spit out and forsaken,

The kind of thing of which we’re not amused.

Has someone helped you reach your full potential,

Been positive as your personal seneschal…

If thus you are improved

And life has come well-hooved,

Then gratefully say you have been used well!

NEW (BUT FAMILIAR) DOCTOR’S OFFICE

NEW (BUT FAMILIAR) DOCTOR’S OFFICE

The doctor I had…retired…

And the buyout of his practice required…

A physician new

At a different office to

Continue my care as transpired.

The buyout people were the same,

As my wife’s plan with the same name…

My wife cared

And she gladly shared

He doctor–a woman of fame.

Her doctor we’d seen a long while,

A number of years her style…

We both got to know

‘Cause I had to go

In with the Missus each trial.

So my “new” doctor’s office is mine,

Which we’ve visited for a long time…

Her doctor gladly

Took on me,

‘Cause we’ve known each other over time.

UNCERTAIN IDENTITY

UNCERTAIN IDENTITY

A poet who doesn’t stay

Within a certain tense…

How can they find a way

To keep on making sense?

Too many interests dampen the soul

Overwhelming one’s nature…

When left uncontrolled,

But what happens over time???
