RAIN GLASS–MORE THAN HALF-FULL

A RAIN GLASS MORE THAN HALF-FULL

Rain clouds coming up the coast,

To where we need it the most…

A tornado

Expected to blow,

Some places are logistically “toast”.

Just think of the benefits there,

More urban renewal per square…

Destruction to make

Open real estate,

The kind more increasingly rare.

For people prepared they find,

That prayer often eases the mind…

Done all you can do

Let the storm rage through,

Afterward, take stock as inclined!

DREARY DAYS

DREARY DAYS

Birds flit among the mums

Totting up flower seed sums…

Chrysanthemums bright

Appear spots of light,

Where the last honey bee hums.

When dreary days are the norm

We look for any storm….

To clear the air,

And clear skies prepare–

Some sunlight would help us feel warm!

Overcast clouds and drizzle

Would anyones spirit fizzle…

But light from one’s heart

Rain clouds do part,

Thwarting the most evil missile.

HOT JUNE DAYS

HOT JUNE DAYS

(tune: “Animal Crackers in My Soup”–to sing it!)

Sudden spreading algae blooms

Cover quiet pond lagoons,

Lily pads bursting out so far…

Cradling gentle lily stars!

Sweat drips down like salty rain

Making us shower all over again,

Grass grows quicker than we mow…

Professionally planted flowers show.

Rain clouds come to wet the ground,

Thunder and lightning slow us down

To enjoy a quiet book…

Or resting in a favorite nook!
