A PLEASANT CHANGE!!!

A PLEASANT CHANGE!!!!

Karen, my redheaded friend,

Leaves work and her smiles extend…

To a poetic guard

Who shared his regard

For her and her importance in the end.

Her physical attributes fine,

But even more so her mind…

It’s important to me

Greeted pleasantly

While doing the same in kind!

ANSWER TO A YOUNG WAG

ANSWER TO A YOUNG WAG

(You know whom you are.)

A wag once said to me,

Do redheads still like thee…

They still smile

Leaving single file,

As they run out the door with glee!

FEAR FOR FELLOWSHIP

FEAR FOR FELLOWSHIP

Once he was a fine redhead,

Finely by a redhead, bred…

His red hair died

He’s unidentified,

Unable to prove what he’s said.

So many years “un-endued”

Of ginger he has pursued…

To in many ways

Find a group that okays

His status without being rude.

He’s glad, then, that no one heckles,

Him for just keeping the freckles…

He’s suffered his last

For being typecast,

Unless he wants to be reckless.

FAVORITE REDHEADS!

FAVORITE RED HEADS!

Red heads of screen and stage,

Whether young or of any age…

Often stroll

According to role,

About in colored-hair shades.

The “real ones” whether women or men,

Thrill us like nobody can…

On certain shows

When they strike that pose,

We’d watch them again and again!

My favorite personal friends

Are blonde as winter ends…

Then cause me great thrill

Changing red at will,

My heart does back flips (end-for-ends).

Red heads real or fake have style,

They have ways of making you smile…

Whether present or past,

Knowing them’s a pleasant task–

As long…as WE* continue to smile!

–Jonathan Caswell

*”WE”…you know I “is one”, don’t you?  Even when the evidence on top has gone missing!!!!!  :-).

REDHEADS LATELY?

REDHEADS LATELY?

Haven’t written about redheads lately,

Not that they don’t come to mind…

Their still the ones I admire greatly

And make friends with any I can find.

One or two subscribe to my poetry

While others follow here…

Whoever they are, wherever they come from,

I think of them as dear.

If I don’t write as often about you

Please do not get mad…

In my own limited way I love you,

The best friends I’ve ever had.*

(*Except my wife…of course!!!)

CHANGING COLORS

CHANGING COLORS

Most redheaded friends have turned

Some other hair color, I’ve learned,

I think God is saying

It’s time to stop straying…

And get back into His Word.

Kicking against the goads, Paul said,

Which the Lord said to him when he sped…

To Damascus to seize

Saints, but fell on his knees,

Was blinded and fell nearly dead.

Paul started preaching anew,

From the Old Testament that God knew…

That Jesus was the One,

God’s very own Son,

And God offered it first to the Jew.

Now Paul didn’t emphasize hair color,

So why should I be the dullard…

It is for people’s souls

That my Lord Christ trolls,

Who am I to be concerned with how they’re colored?

FUNNY, HOW IT GOES!

FUNNY, HOW IT GOES!

It’s funny how moods tend to change,

An artistic drive re-arranged…

Can drop one thing

To let another fling,

Break forth creative uncaged!

We don’t always see the same way,

It varies the view day-by-day…

Emotional import

Inside treasures will sort,

So that new project may have its day.

A “redhead jag” may return,

When I’m over the current heart burn…

I’ve had quite enough

For now, of that stuff,

Until those affections return!

REDHEADS AND CATS

REDHEADS AND CATS

It is said that redheads and felines—

At least certain lines…

Have common ancestors

So say male “suggesters”,

Who like hot redheads just fine.

But scientifically,

Redheads are more likely to be…

Genetic Neanderthal,

Not thrilling at all

But the myth has more popularity.

Some claim redheads haven’t souls,

Just made for THEM living hot coals…

Silliness will reign

In animals whose brain

Is solely used to curl the toes!

I happen to like both kinds,

As long as either one doesn’t mind….

Being respected for

Who they are and more

Specifically individuals to which I’ll be kind.

REDHEADS ARE ANIMALS!

REDHEADS ARE ANIMALS!

Squirreling away for a rainy day,

They’ll take nuts over you…

Redheads prefer the active way

Or at least we are told they do.

Ears pick up at the mention of treats

Scattered around the yard…

Gotta remember where they’ve buried the nuts,

Winters can be very hard.

I’d love a cute redhead to help keep me warm

But I’ll first have to ask my wife….

But a redheaded squirrel is not what I need,

No way, no how, not on your life!
