Christmas lights on the highway,
White sets of lights headed my way…
Ranks of red
Forge ahead,
Past blue light specials slyly!

Flying away from the sunset’s
Pink and purple, light blue…
Hurtling into darkness,
Thinking of what he must do.
–
Toward eventual sunrise,
Determined to save a soul…
When in rush hour traffic
To exit he finds…a hole!
–
Gathering darkness swirls,
He sees the tail lights beyond…
Reaching his destination
The quiet woods surround!

PARTING GREETINGS
–
During rush hour a truck,
Tried to wish me “good lick”…
In that slow race
He wanted my space,,
The situation nip and tuck!
–
The behemoth cut in I yelled,
To the right lane expelled…
The folks in that lane
Saw it plain
And held a space as if God willed!
–
I swerved back into HIS lane,
Ahead of him and sane…
He decided that, lo,
The right lane was too slow,
And found space to move over again!

TRAFFIC GYMNASTICS
–
Smoothly a minivan,
Slid over to where we ran…
Neck-and-neck,
But what the heck–
It made it through as planned!-
–
Diagonally challenged
Traffic carefully balanced…
At sixty “per”,
By in a blur,
Some drivers show amazing talents.
–
Judging how big is the hole
Between cars takes control…
Finding their place
In a rat race
Helps other drivers feel old!
–
So glad we all arrived,
Safely on the drive…
To work or home
With or alone,
The excitement gives me hives!
