TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS…

I really wouldn’t compare

Two days with the rest there…

But when it’s Ken

It’s easier then,

We talk about railroads there!

Also concerning trash,

Ken’s less likely to outlash…

If the can

Isn’t spic and span,

Other guys–I have to act fast.

Similar culturally,

With your own people most like to be…

Christianity

Is unity,

Different denominations–why boast?

To tell the truth, culturally,

We’re different but all agree…

To do  our bit

Always legit,

As a team when possibly.

The others I  befriend

And have–for years on end…

He’s older than I–

Perhaps that’s why,

On each other we can depend!

CUSTOMIZED GOODBYES

A robot saying “good night”,

For a human hardly seems right…

For employee cheer

We specialize here,

As long as we keep it light!

Important to let them talk first,

Hogging all the time is worst…

a scant three seconds

That open door beckons,

In yourself don’t be immersed!

Certain ones enjoy short singing–

Not the time for aria bringiing…

One or two bars

Familiar,

Make fun their exit flights winging.

THE LYRICAL SECURITY GUARD

THE LYRICAL SECURITY GUARD

They love his sing-song way,

As long as it’s not ev’ry day…

Lyrical lines

At exit times,

Cheer employees on their way!

FINE EATS

FINE EATS

The microwave is heating up

My last meal of the day…

Leftover chili and a grilled cheese sandwich

Made at home, by the way.

Both had been in the refrigerator

And so were properly “aged…”

Sour-dough rye on the side

And cold coffee are the rage ( ! )

It’s not great verse but it will do,

Nutritious at the very least…

So excuse me a moment while I dig in

To a Security Guard’s fine feast.

ME AND THE MAILMAN

ME AND THE MAILMAN

Me and the mailman have our time

Of respectful courtly display…

We greet each other as great men

Before he drives away.

I often-times will carry out

The bucket with the mail…

Exchanging with him pleasantries,

As our normal exchange entails.

Not every guard, I’m told does this,

But leave it inside the door…

It certainly impresses him

When a guard does considerably more!

“SCHEDULUS INTERRUPTUS”

“SCHEDULOUS INTERRUPTUS”

The Guard wants to close Gates,

But geese and their younger mates…

Are wandering

And pondering

At feeding frenzied rates.

AHA! they’ve suddenly swarmed,

Inside as if warned…

It’s growing dark

And time to park

In the pond before predators swarm!

The gates are closed at last,

Despite flock-sized droppings cast…

He watched his stepping

By careful schlepping,

So his shoes wouldn’t stick fast!

MY PLACE IN THINGS

MY PLACE IN THINGS

As a Guard, I will be ignored,

When people are going ashore…

From the Industrial Ship

They’d rather not trip

Over a Guard that sits there bored.

They have things on their minds,

To do as part of their grinds…

Of daily life,

A husband or wife

Or kids to make them mind.

A last step out that door,

And this eight hours is no more…

To lessen delay

They’ve nothing to say

As the Guard with their eyes they implore.

But most are friendly enough,

Their attitude seems more than fluff…

An honest smile

And a two-minute mile,

Is really the best kind of stuff!
