DID…HE…LIKE THE WAR BONNET?
–
Should find out if,
The boss will accept my gift…
Or if he’ll say
Throw it away,
Out into a convenient snow drift?

CAUGHT HER DRIFT!
“It’s so BEAUTIFUL…” she yelled,
On a break from scraping window ice…
Her car buried in a snow drift
But thought the crystal trees looked nice.
–
She or somebody wished out loud’
I really wasn’t that near…
That she had a camera
To take a picture “out here.”
–
She tried to kneel on the hood
To reach the other side of the car…
Her leg kept slipping off,
From that angle she couldn’t reach far.
–
We neighbors helped her dig
Out her vehicle from…
The drift it nosed into,
Our artistically minded chum!

FURTHER ADVENTURES OF…
Black-ice Bobby then
Went out for a drive in the glen…
Clobbered a drift,
Went over the cliff
And was never heard from again!

GRAVEYARD SHIFT
I remember doing third shift,
Seeing daylight at the end was a lift…
On the weary ride home
I felt so alone
But going home then was a gift.
–
Seeing the first signs of life
After the previous night…
Or the frozen haze
On wintry days,
If the car avoided snow drifts!
–
I got used to working all night,
But the Missus had her own fight to fight…
Had to switch to days
As her sickness displayed
Itself for months of bad nights.
–
My employers were not very happy
With this shift-switching chappy…
My late sacrifice
Brought love to her eyes,
Her recovery took a long time there, Cappy!

MORE WINTER FUN! 🙂
From warm inside to wintery freeze
Similar to a Nordic sauna…
Transitioning in this weather will
Refresh both flora and fauna!
–
Tobogganing headfirst down a hill
Can be such a surprise…
When breaking through a further snowdrift,
Sprayed with powdered snow in the eyes.
–
I’m glad, at the time, that the snow drift was free
Of barbed wire, poles and such…
If they were hidden inside that drift,
I wouldn’t have enjoyed it much.

An Adirondack college winter camp sauna
We used on alternate nights…
The co-ed course for which we paid
Didn’t guarantee mixed gender rights!
