ALAS…THE JITNEY!

ALAS…THE JITNEY!

Alas, the jitney is dead,

We’ll have to “hoof it” instead…

If we make it home

I’ll write a poem,

Do you think we’ll find our own beds?

The classic is “running out of gas”,

So the guy can attempt a pass…

Never tried it myself

Had more character wealth,

Than to trick her into something crass.

Whether jitneys are fixed or not,

We both found love hit the spot…

No deceiving

But grateful receiving

The lifetime of love we got!

BUT WERE YOU CAUGHT???

BUT WERE YOU CAUGHT???

Hardly the best of remarking,

But…thinking back to your “sparking”…

Was your safe hideaway

Suddenly blown away,

And some caught you both larking?

Think back to when life was young

And tempting activities hung…

Between you two

Wanting to do,

What Valentine’s Day had begun.

Think of those times in the car

When one got “so far”…

Maybe more than one ought

And then was caught,

All steamed up, under the stars!

It seems a long time ago

Since we were inclined so…

To contort

In loving sport,

Romancing our love “no-show”.

ROMANTIC SATURDAY NIGHT

ROMANTIC SATURDAY NIGHT

My wife and I will drive

And hear the springtime live…

Sounds from swamps cast

Will be a blast,

Though it’s too cold to take a dive.

Our sparking places forgotten,

From a younger time when we were plotting…

But now it’s enough

To park in the rough

And listen while animal spotting.

The “sky-blue-pink” ending days

Dissolve into darker dusk haze…

We’ll quietly hear

The sounds that are dear,

Our quieted souls can graze!
