THE STEAMED CHEESEBURGER MAN

THE STEAMED CHEESEBURGER MAN

It seemed more truth than legend,

Beside the road sat a steam engine…

In the shape of a stand,

Consumer demand

For some new product alleging.

The choice was surprising to view,

A new style of burger to chew…

And hot dogs as well

For less to the till,

Steamed hamburgers were something new!*

The man in the engineer’s hat,

Explained the process drained fat…

Out of the patty,

‘Though grey, wasn’t shabby

In flavor when cooked like that.

Alas, he moved around,

Until the best traffic he found…

He then moved away

In Florida (?) to stay,

The venture here was rocky ground!

SUN SHOWERS???

SUN SHOWERS????

The sun came out, I thought,

But it’s raining so I’m caught…

In dichotomy

Of weather you see

A conundrum conveniently taught!

I grew up in a place with weird weather,

The second-cloudiest in the country all-together…

It rained with sunshine

Which suited just fine,

As well as a Family called “Webber”.

New York City cousins were awed,

We didn’t think a rainy picnic flawed…

They said that our “steamed”

Hot dogs were a dream,

I’m glad they were charred but thawed!

Nearing the end of rain showers,

Sunshine has remarkable powers…

To renew nice thoughts

About our lots,

Before the next rainstorm glowers.
