FIRST DAY OF SUMMER–ALREADY?

What we’ve long wished for is here,

The hottest weather this year…

A solstice full moon

May bring good luck soon,

A reason for more summer cheer!

The Missus is counting the days,

That this hot weather stays…

After ten in a row

Then in we go,

The pool or pond in a warmer phase.

People watchers equally blessed,

In general folks wearing less…

Girls’ parents agreeing

Surveillance needing,

Being tight if she’s scantily dressed!

Thoughts turn to vacations and beaches,

And how far the budget reaches…

Educational points

And tourist trap joints,

Compares with how an “expert” preaches.

Resorting to shorter day trips,

Several destinations on my lips…

Offer fun times

Not needing gold mines,

Be home by the time the sun dips.

IT’S OFFICIAL

IT’S OFFICIAL

Officially it’s summer,

The solstice days ago…

Passed us in the longest day–

From now on, they’ll slow.

Mermaid parades and chases

Seem the latest thing…

Anything for a party

So you get in the swing!

That’s a pretty wild group

In that parade…

Can’t fault anyone

On the part they’ve played.

SUMMER SOLSTICE EVE

SUMMER  SOLSTICE EVE

Oh how time does fly

And who would believe….

The longest day of the year

Is tomorrow–tonight its eve.

A blink or two in time

It was just past December…

Complaining about the cold,

Does anyone remember?

One blogger I read said that

It’s all down hill from now…

Forgetting that hotter months

July and August

Cry loud.

Of weather what can I say,

The warmup is welcome to me…

It’s close to the longest day

But I look to the summer with glee!
