A mouse in a thimble he saw
On a fine lady of awe…
He noticed the pin
On the sweater she was in,
Complimenting her for the pin he saw!

YOGURT ON MY SWEATER
With yogurt on my sweater,
I couldn’t show any better….
My wife’s loving care
For how I fare,
Drawn with cords of love, not a fetter!

THE DIAMOND SWEATER
This morning I saw a sweater
With colored diamonds thereon…
It looked good on the young woman, “D.”,
But it might not look good on me!
–
A blue-grey collar stuck out at the top
Neatly folded down, open neck…
Her ginger coif and welcoming smile,
Made me think of a diamond rare!
–
She showed me a picture on her monitor
Of a crabapple-eating deer….
Taken last week at her other place,
They wanted to name it, I fear!
–
No one wants to name the deer in our yard,
They don’t stay around much, you see…
They come around evenings when pictures are hard
And we don’t have a crabapple tree!
–
I left “D.” to consider the deer,
That Westboro Wonder for sure…
To name a small deer eating apple trees
Whose neither afraid or mature!
–
The sweater looked good the second time round,
I came back to check my post….
Of all the people who’ve worn that sweater
I think I like her, the most!
