PRESENTS HERSELF

PRESENTS HERSELF

She presents herself in front of me,

Asking about my wife…

Engaging in small talk pleasantly

Making me a part of her life.

It’s not an obligation

But a friendly “keep in touch”…

Showing consideration

That always means so much.

She could have, like others,

Ignored me by now…

Content with more important folk

To enhance her career flow!

I’m not exactly little

But sure am a guy…

So nice being remembered,

Some day I’ll ask her why.

THE “AFFORDABLE” CARE

THE “AFFORDABLE” CARE

(Economic-political opinion)

Supposed to make care “affordable”,

In newspapers it is recordable…

The little guy pays

While corporations walk away,

And redress is not supportable.

It’s always the fine print,

That bites in the butt without squint…

To see what is there

Before people care

To go try to buy a law splint.

Sounds like we’re stuck with paying

While fat cats are constantly “yay-ing”…

Loopholes this day

Drive “affordable” away,

Can we take any more Party braying?

THE VALUE OF BLUE LAWS

THE VALUE OF BLUE LAWS

I’m glad for the few “Blue Laws”

That still are on the books,

Of certain States despite their flaws…

And despite neighbors’ dirty looks!

Worshippers of the “Holy Dollar”

Want seven-day-a-week sales,

Tax revenuers may holler…

Even if society fails.

Hooray for the few “courageous”

States who have not yet gotten around

To striking Blue Laws from the system…

And striking our families down!

Praise God that a few places still

Put the “little guy” before cash and sales,

Whether from neglect or iron will…

That State has not on the family baled.

So thank you, Massachusetts and neighbors,

Who have yet to sell our souls

To the Lord High Master of Commerce…

Which keeps more families whole!
