WHAT WILL YOU BE HAVING?
(FOR THANKSGIVING)
The temptation we face this year
Is to totally steer clear…
A big turkey bird
For two is absurd,
We’d be eating on it till next year!
–
On Thanksgiving, not having turkey,
Is outlandish and very quirky…
Maybe a nice steak
Will give us a break,
The salt content’s high in beef jerky.
–
Other years a half-turkey breast,
Of half-turkeys I can’t attest…
Was enough—
Are they calling our bluff?
Do we need an intelligence test?
–
We’ve sometimes gotten by with ham,
But we’re under that “less salt” command…
And need less fat
The gravy has that,
Maybe Thanksgiving won’t be so grand!
