Springtime at work is here
When the canopied entrance clears…
Its side panels fled
To a storage shed,
To warm weather cheers!

MAYFLY MAYHEM!
–
Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania,
Warm weather makes mayfly mania…
Fouling radar scans
And plugging bridge spans,
Blizzards of them–wildlife arcane -(see-ah-?)
–Jonathan Caswelll
HAIKU AND TANKA
–
Warm weather–no rain–
Perfect for picnics and fun…
With your own loved ine!
–
Broken bad habits
Too much empty time of mine…
Evenings boring now…
Making up poetry’d hard,
Replacing habits: harder!

BEHIND THAT DOOR…?
On rounds he has a fear,
One door from which may appear…
Out of the dark
A skunk on a lark,
Who may not want him right there.
–
The outer door’s often open,
When the chiller machinery’s groping…
For every last breath
Of coolness til death,
In warm weather, screams like it’s choking.
–
I once saw a pigeon in there,
Staggering in despair…
Because of that sound
It seemed death-bound,
I imagine it was really scared!
–
So unless skunks wear ear plugs,
I’m not likely to meet one who shrugs…
Off all that noise
With regal skunk poise,
He’d rather dig for grubs and bugs!

MARCH 20, 2014
The last day of Spring,
Do you hear choruses ring…
Tomorrow is Summer,
A warm weather comer
Until the coolness Fall brings?
–Jonathan Caswell
WARM WEATHER HAIKU
Air conditioners
Softly flowing night time wind…
Cool enough, without.
–
Parking in the shade,
Handicapped zone is filled up…
Worth the extra walk.
–
Wild families grow,
No fishercats seen this year…
The woods hide many lives.
–
Flowers open wide,
Bees work among the petals…
Aroma lures all.

A WARM EARLY FALL
October at seventy degrees,
Slows color change in that breeze…
There’s financial cost
To little or no frost,
Fewer folks stop to admire the trees!
–Jonathan Caswell
MIDWESTERN SNOW—WHEN WILL IT GO?
The East is warm and sunny,
The Midwest weather is funny…
Shouldn’t this bring
A hint of spring,
Instead of more blizzard bunnies?!?
