DOWN TO ONE LEFT.

DOWN TO ONE LEFT

The goose family ambled by,

It’s a wonder Momma didn’t cry…

She’s fledged all her young

Excepting one,

Emptying the season’s supply!

A literal empty nest

Puts parent love to the test…

If geese do fine

We shouldn’t malign

Challenges faced by the rest.

PUFFBALLS ON THE GAZEBO

PUFFBALLS ON THE GAZEBO

Several swollen puff-balls

Upon the gazebo roof…

A couple of birds fly to the ground,

Trying to stay aloof.

One poor robin in the drive

Wond’ring where the grass has gone…

Hopping in salty mud,

Does winter last this long?

Singing to keep warm they are,

Waiting for the ground to clear…

It’s confusing–all this snow–

Gets worse every year!
