HAVING NO FEAR–OR FUN

Being inside all the while,

I gaze out at weather and smile…

Transitional time

To retrain the mind

For winter driving as dialed.

But now I may start to worry

As someone else drives in a hurry…

Out of my control

To politely extol,

And trust those driving the surrey!

Overnight temps in the “teens”

…That’s what this winter means…

But we don’t mind

If people are kind

Enough to feed us our “beans”*

–

We like our coats with fur

And car heaters that purr…

Blowers that blow

Our windows of snow,

And appreciative sounds when we “Brrrrrrrrr!”

Now what does the brown middle mean,

Is it how long until spring?

According to lore

If of brown there is more,

A milder winter is the thing.

Of course, sample size

Is small enough to realize…

That proper data

Sent prorata

Is rarely decently-sized.

The result is it is for fun

We trouble this black and brown one…

It may not be true,

It is up to you

To “measure” the winter that will come.
